Mooring in one place without paying

AFTER including the piece from the  National Bargee Travellers Association concerning moorings, we have received comments regarding its published statement.

As they are too short to include as separate items, they have been included below.

No represent the majority

From Rob Halladay—Most liveaboard boaters are not bothered by the no moorings surcharge because they pay for their moorings and do not continually moor on unofficial moorings instead of continually cruising. The campaigning boaters do not represent the majority of liveaboards.

Have to pay to do so

From regular contributor T Lang—Just a note I could not resist. Don't the bargee people realise if you want to stay in one place then you have to pay to do so or you become a continuos cruiser and so move around the system.  You can't have it bath ways.

Continuously cruise in one place!

From another regular Helen Cripps—I was finding my marina moorings for a 55ft narrowboat too expensive so took out a continuous cruiser licence two years ago and never regretted it as you get the companionship I never had in my particular marina.

But I realise I then have to move moorings a distance every 14 days, and do so. and so must those who want to continuously cruise in one place!

There will be another article following on the same subject from John Coxon...
