Narrowboat explosion leaves boater seriously injured

A BOAT explosion has left the boater seriously injured and rushed to hospital.

This occurred outside the Red Lion pub in Winsford, Alfred Overton reports.

ExplosionThe loud explosion had people at the pub calling the emergency services to discover the narrowboat (just recognised by its tiller) scattered all over the Weaver where it was moored.

Occurred yesterday

This occurred yesterday, Tuesday, in the late morning with the incident near to the bottom flashes of the river.

People living nearby told that 'the ground shook' just before midday. And that there was black smoke and the smell of burning.

Two fire engines were quickly on the scene and doused the fire that was burning in the remains of the boat.
