THE winners of the River Canal Rescue photography competition have been announced.

CCR1Funds for Cancer Research

Thirteen images have been chosen to appear in River Canal Rescue’s 2025 calendar (front cover and one for every month), which goes on sale later this year to raise funds for Cancer Research UK.

The photography competition attracted over 375 entries, which judges, RCR managing director, Stephanie Horton, Canal Boat editor, Charlie Waters and Canal & River Trust communications manager, Damian Kemp, then whittled down to a final few.

Depicting scenes from across the inland waterway network and north Berwick, heading towards Craigleith Island, they include boats moored on reflective waters, the differing seasons, tunnel views and iconic images and landscapes.  The photograph shown here is by Stuart Maddock, a summer’s night at Yelvertoft marina, Grand Union canal, Northampton. And the one below is by Les Fitton, autumn colours on the Lancaster canal

RCRPhoto2A hard task

Stephanie comments:

“It was great to see so many people entering the competition to support our calendarthey presented us with a hard task. The entries were very high quality and captured the very essence of life afloat. We would have loved to have included more, so thankyou to everyone who entered, and sorry if your photo didn’t make it to the final 13.

“I’m equally grateful to our judges for their help. The donation we make to Cancer Research UK from calendar sales will be in memory of our friend and colleague Paul Drummie, who passed away earlier this year.”

Every image received will feature in a video, released on YouTube and RCR’s Facebook page, and potentially used in future promotional material, crediting the owner.

RCR calendars will be on sale from September and can be purchased for £9.99 including postage, via the company’s social media pages and website www.rivercanalrescue.co.uk or by calling 01785 785680.
