New Birmingham mooring times altered after consultation
New boat mooring times in Birmingham have been implemented as a result of a Canal & River Trust consultation.
With the trust telling the mooring times for boaters have been trialled and now in effect and are more standardised.
It claims the new standardised mooring stay times have been shaped with feedback from individual boaters, boating groups and local boating businesses and will give local and visiting boaters improved access to facilities, shops and restaurants in the city centre.
New times
Visitor moorings in Birmingham's central zone are now standardised as four days moorings from 1st April to 31st October. Then 31 and 14 days moorings from 1st November to 31st March.
Visitor moorings north-west of Sheepcote Street on the New Mainline Canal and south-west of Granville Street on the Worcester & Birmingham Canal are standardised to 14 days all year round.
Moorings will be in three locations: between Cambrian House and Tindall Bridge; south of Worcester Bar and alongside the International Convention Centre.
Long term moorings
However the pontoons moorings at Cambrian Basin are all designated as long term.
The service mooring’ alongside Canal House in Gas Street Basin and those between the Roundhouse Birmingham and Sheepcote Street will be 'formalised'. They are available for boaters using the facilities.
