THE original closure for two weeks of the Wigan Flight has now increased to over three weeks.
The stoppage caused by the blown cill on Lock 68 on the Leeds & Liverpool flight has been increased from two weeks to three weeks.
Work starts next week
Canal & River Trust now tell the stoppage will be three weeks, but work will not start until next week, though the stoppage came into force on Wednesday.
It tells its contractors will be on site to set up the fabric dams and scaffolding to repair the blown cill.
The entire flight is now closed from Lock 65 to Lock 85.
