Broken barrier closes Stratford Canal

SHIRLEY Drawbridge on the North Stratford Canal has had a vehicle strike.

This has damaged the barrier of the drawbridge and it is now out of action, Keith Gudgin reports.

Susceptible to strikes

It would seem the barrier is susceptible to strikes, as the drawbridge barrier was struck closing the waterway in June 2021, August 2022 and the present strike, so perhaps needs making more obvious.

However we are informed that contractors are on their way to 'assess the damage'.
