The Wink is on the Blink again...

ONCE again the Winkwell swing Bridge (147) has broken down and the navigation closed.

This Grand Union Canal swing bridge at Hemel Hempstead once again has a mechanical fault, Keith Gudgin reports.

Last year it was out of action in January, June and November and already this year it has been broken twice—on the 20th January and again yesterday.

Major fault

Time and time again the swing bridge breaks then gets repaired, so there there is obviously a major fault with the bridge, so surely it would be sensible to replace whatever it is that keeps failing, instead of continually paying-out contractors to repair it.

And then stop boaters having their cruises interrupted and holidays spoilt.
