Another 'winter works' cancelled

ANOTHER winter works has been cancelled by Canal & River Trust.

With so many winter works cancelled since they were first announced makes a mockery of the long list that was so proudly told of the maintenance work that was to be done this winter but then cancelled.

Leakage

This time it is the repair to stop the leakage of the bottom gates of Lock 90 on the Hanwell Flight, Keith Gudgin reports.

The trust telling it would  like to advise its customers that this stoppage has been deferred from our winter stoppage programme. This is due to some unforeseen challenges with resource and other delays within our winter works programme.

We are told these works will be re-scoped so that the repair works can be undertaken at a later date under a navigation restriction. But the stoppage notice states 'Navigation: Closed'.

Another stoppage on the Grand Union

There is still a further stoppage on the Grand Union with the navigation closed at Lock 37.

This time it is problems with the top gate of the lock that needs urgent attention.
