Leeds & Liverpool Canal swing bridges keep failing

YET another broken Leeds & Liverpool swing bridge though getting very little use this time of year.

Milman Swing Bridge (214) at Apperley Bridge on the Leeds & Liverpool is broken with the navigation closed, Keith Gudgin reports.

Though it failed last Saturday, we are now informed that though some repairs have been carried out by contractors, still further work in needed for which the parts that are required are not yet available.

It was originally reported that the power supply had failed making the bridge inoperable.
