Boothferry Swing Bridge closed until end of August

THE Boothferry Swing Bridge on the Ouse has failed during its operation.

Canal & River Trust tell that it is trying to resolve/fix the problem as soon as possible, Keith Gudgin reports.

Out of operation until end of August

But the trust adds that the bridge is expected to be out of operation until at least the end of August 2022,

Being on a tidal river the height of the bridge of course varies and so this leaves the possibility of narrowboats being able to pass under.

Taller vessels however are unable to do so and relied on it being opened upon request, but this of course is not now possible.
