Boat takes out swing bridge

A NARROWBOAT has crashed into Cranwell's Swing Bridge (35) whilst in the closed position.

This has rendered the bridge on the Kennet & Avon Canal at Brimpton unworkable, Keith Gudgin reports.

Navigation and towpath closed

Not only is the navigation closed but the towpath too, it is reported by Canal & River Trust.

We are informed that the operational reactive team and engineering department will be on site this morning. Monday, to assess the damage and make a plan for repair.
