No hurry with Ripon lock repair

THOUGH there was a system of allowing boaters through the closed Oxclose Lock on the Ripon Canal, it was not well operated, we were told.

This meant that boaters were either unable to get out of the Ripon Marina at the dead end of the waterway, or back into it when they desired.

Second failure

It was the second failure of the lock trapping boaters, with it being closed for months last year, and this closure that occurred last December is still not repaired, Keith Gudgin reports.

The latest information is that work will start on Monday 11th April, in two and half weeks time.

At that time the 'repairs to grout the wall lock and to fill the void are looking to be commencing' Canal & River Trust states in its stoppage notice. But surely it cannot grout a 'wall lock'?  A lock wall would be more likely.
