Selby Swing Bridge getting proper attention at last?

FAILING every year and twice already this year the Selby Swing Bridge is perhaps getting proper attention at last.

SelbySwingIt has been discovered that it is the second cycle due to misalignment with the sensors caused by wear in the bushes that is causing the constant problem.

Adjustment made to compensate

When it fails an adjustment is made to compensate, and the bridge reopened, but after a while this happens again with the bridge again closed to navigation.

Serving a very short waterway the bridge gets little usage, so the repairs last a while, but failing twice in weeks it is realised that the parts must be replaced.

The company, AMCo, is sending out a specialist hydraulics engineer to the site today, so hopefully the worn parts will be replaced and the bridge back in constant working condition.
