A LORRY driver found to his chagrin that his lorry did not float when he took to the Thames!

LorryinThamesRescued by lifeboat

He had to be rescued by a lifeboat crew after his lorry landed in the Thames at Twickenham, Roger Fox reports.

The driver was left stranded in his cab in the cold river and as the water reached his window, preventing him getting out.

It seems the skip driver missed the edge of the car park owing to the high tide and flood water and accidentality drove into the river. (Photograph by Ruth Wadey.)

Emergency services

The emergency services arrived at the scene with the firefighters securing the lorry so it would not sink further and breaking the widow to release the driver out and into the rescue boat.

The lorry drive was uninjured during his ordeal, though somewhat wet, though he caused something of an 'overkill' with, it is told, dozens of ambulances, police cars and fire engines arriving, though just the boat was required.
