And the rains came...

WE HAD been considering a short trip up to Derwent Mouth Lock for quite a while but yesterday was certainly a no-no!

The idea was to give the engine a run as we had been stuck in Sawley Marina for months, due to one thing or another—mostly the weather.

Put paid to that

But a walk to Sawley Flood Lock soon put paid to that for this week—once again we were definitely stuck as the picture shows.  But luckily the lock was holding the water back so the marina was safe.

The big problem with mooring at Sawley is it being on a river, the Trent, that is fed just above the marina by the Derwent that drains the Pennines, so any decent rainfall and there is nowhere to go—or twice in our case, to get back!
