THE reason given for the latest failure of the Leeds & Liverpool Canal  is 'an incident on both tailgate paddle stalks'.

Boaters will most likely read that as being only one paddle working and now the other has failed, closing the lock, Keith Gudgin reports, which is an occurrence that is now happening regularly as the various stoppage notices show.

Investigating the resources

This time it is Lock 62 on the Johnson's Hill Flight at Chorley that failed yesterday, Wednesday. with our being told that 'teams are investigating the resources available to carry out a repair or renewal'.
