Winter stoppage no longer required

THE Canal & River Trust has decided that the winter stoppage on the Calder & Hebble is no longer required so it has been cancelled.

A stoppage was required on Lock 19 at Ravensthorpe to carry out 'repairs to gates to stop leakage and repointing', Keith Gudgin reports.

Repaired later

Though the work is 'no longer required' we are told it will be completed under a restriction later in the year, that surely means the work is required.

We are advised it will be completed later in the year—but it is not stated which year.
