'Rochdale Nine' reopens

EXACTLY a month after it was closed, the 'Rochdale Nine' is reopened.

The contractors were able to eventually install a new lock gate bracket to Lock 85 on the Rochdale Canal in Manchester, Keith Gudgin reports.

Under restriction

This means the lock is now open but under restriction, as once again it is only a temporary fix and though a broad lock the gates will only allow a 7ft width boat or less through the lock.

This means that a further repair is still needed, which is being planned. It is not stated if this will result in a further closure.
