Braunston Stop House likely to be sold
THE Canal & River Trust is to sell its Braunston Stop House.
It tells that it is 'considering a reduction in its operational offices around the country' as it has more office space than it needs, and has seen a significant change in working practices with people working from home and using video technology.
Contents removed
No decision has yet been made regarding its future ownership but it is now closed due to the pandemic, with its contents being removed, such as furniture, that is being used by its staff working from home.
However, it seems very likely that it will be sold to raise cash, as have other such premises, always with the 'reason' that they will raise money to put towards the upkeep of the waterways.
Welcome Station
With the Stop House being home to a Welcome Station, an effort will be made to 'maintain a presence in the area' we are informed.
