Emergency services have  withdrawn their searches of the Birmingham &  Wolverhampton Canal.

This was after the reports of a person in the water, Janet Friend reports.

Police, fire and ambulance crews were called to Bentley Bridge in Wolverhampton late on Sunday evening.

No one found

But despite extensive searches, there was no one found, even though West Midlands Fire Service were using a raft, with underwater and thermal imaging cameras and sonar equipment.

West Midlands Police confirmed that no-one had been unaccounted for even after returning to the area on Monday.

Navigation of the waterway of the area was closed for the period of the search.
