Coronavirus closes two tidal Trent locks

WITH the lock keeper at West Stockwith Lock on the tidal Trent testing positive for coronavirus the lock is now closed.

wstockwithNo passage was available after 4pm yesterday or over the coming week-end, with Canal & River Trust adhering to government guidelines and currently awaiting test results for the remaining staff on site before the lock can be operated. Keith Gudgin reports.

Keadby also closed

As staff associate with those at Keadby Lock connecting the tidal Trent with Sheffield & South Yorkshire Navigation, this lock too will be closed for navigation from 4pm today, Friday.

At present there is no information concerning the possible closure of the other two tidal  locks—Cromwell and Torksey, or the opening of West Stockwith or Keadby.

Be tested

Any boaters having had close association with staff at West Stockwith Lock is advised to arranged to be tested for the virus without delay.
