Already realised poor state of Grand Union Lock

IT IS obvious that Canal & River Trust already realised the poor state of Ivinghoe Lock on the Grand Union Canal.

For Roger Fox points out that Keith Gudgin’s recent report of the failure of a gate on Grand Union Lock 32 at Ivinghoe unwittingly highlights that CaRT knew already that there were imminent failures.

Includes replacement

The published schedule of proposed 20/21 winter works already includes replacement of both sets of gates.

I know from our own experience that the gates have been problematic for years and I look forward to boating in 2021 which ought to be a lot easier.
