Another collapsed culvert on Rochdale Canal

UNDER ordinary circumstances it would be the start of the waterways holiday season and a collapsed culvert being a real problem.

But with the waterways at an official standstill, another collapsed culvert on the Rochdale Canal is at present of little consequence, but shows how the waterway is deteriorating as this is the second culvert failure this year on the Rochdale.

Chadderton

The last one was at Hebden Bridge in February that was repaired but now there is a further culvert failure at Chadderton, Keith Gudgin reports.

Canal & River Trust does not give the exact location, only telling it is between locks 61 and 64 that stretch a mile through Chadderton and that the repair is likely to take six weeks.
