Two closures and one likely opening

Published: Tuesday, 24 March 2020

TWO navigation closures were announced yesterday (Monday) but with a likely opening of a stoppage on the Leeds & Liverpool.

Stoke Lock on the Trent is out of action due to an electrical fault, but there is the hope of having it repaired by the end of today, Keith Gudgin reports.

No explanation

But more of a problem to boaters is that we are told the Calder & Hebble Navigation is closed 'until further notice' but with no explanation whatsoever why.

Just the information that navigation is currently not possible through Ledgard Flood Lock.

Good news

But the good news is that the repair to Arley Aqueduct is complete, with successful testing having been completed, and so it should be open to navigation this coming Friday 27th March.
