Two more drownings

THE body of a woman was pulled from the Ashton Canal this morning (Thursday).

Emergency services were called after the body of a woman was seen in the canal near to the Velodrome, the National Cycling Centre, around 9:30am, Alan Tilbury reports.

The towpath was sealed off whilst the body was recovered, with Greater Manchester Police confirming the body of a 48 years old woman was recovered.

The body of a man who was last seen at his home in Derby on the 11th January has been pulled from the Trent & Mersey Canal near Swarkestone.

Mohammed Ishtyaq was last heard from following a road accident on Swarkestone Bridge, telling his family that he 'would be home soon'. but that was the last they heard from him.
