Fingers crossed!

THERE is every chance that the Macclesfield Canal will reopen today—fingers crossed!

It was a 'lifted cill', according to Canal & River Trust that caused Lock 2 failure on the Bosley Flight and so closing the waterway, Keith Gudgin reported.

The area had to be drained of course so that the damage could be inspected to discover what work was required. The work will be completed, we are told later this afternoon (Friday).

As the problem was only discovered on Tuesday, it has been a fairly quick repair to get the waterways open again.
