Slum boat moved again

THE BOAT aptly named the 'Slum Boat', has been moved again by the Environmental Agency.

This boat in which rooms are rented out is little more than a doss house and has now been moved with its 'support' boat by the Environmental Agency and moored by Hurst Park Molesey, Roger Parr tells us.

These boats, that have no legitimate mooring are regularly moved by the agency after complaints from  people living nearby of their squalor, and were moved from Molesey in March 2017. The picture shows them moored there.

Before then they were the subject of a court order that confirmed they had no long term moorings, but not complying with the order were moved by the agency.

Carry on business

These boats illegally moor along the river until the agency takes out an order then removes them, they then settling somewhere else on the Thames to carry on business.

The largest of the boats—the 'Slum Boat' that is used to rent rooms, does not have an engine so has to be towed.
