Weaver lock to be repaired

MARSH Lock on the Weaver that was damaged last year is to be repaired.

The lock that connects the river to the Manchester Ship Canal has been operating under restricted passage through one upper gate, but is to have the damaged gate replaced, Keith Gudgin tells us.

Floated

The lock will be closed during the repair with the new gate having to be floated using inflatable buoyancy units. It will then be towed up the river, where it will be lifted out and repaired. The gate will then be returned to the lock and re-located to allow the lock to become fully operational.

The stoppage will take place from 11th February until 29th March 2019.
