Still not so peaceful

ISLINGTON Marina in Manchester has started suffering from yobs again as the holidays get under way.

The problem is the Manchester Evening News describing the marina as an 'hidden waterside oasis worth venturing out to discover', so people are venturing out to discover the marina in the city, Alan Tilbury reports.

Islington marinaUnwelcome visitors

It was in the May holidays that people took advantage of the picnic areas of the marina situated between the Rochdale and Ashton canals, but alas some of the visitors were unwelcome as they proved to be young yobs intent upon mischief, and with the new holiday period the yobs are back, turning rubbish bins over, throwing stones at boats and generally making a nuisance of themselves.

As yet, they have not threatened to burn boats as they did on the last holidays or used bad language to boaters, but the berth holders at the marina are very wary as the yobs arrive in school age gangs.

Kayak stolen

During May a kayak was stolen, and when the owner asked for it to be returned she was met with foul mouthed language.

Since then there have been adult drunks jumping on the moored boats, making the August holidays not particularly a good month to look forward to.
