Lee Navigation oil still spreading

THE oil spill into the Lee Navigation is still spreading with boaters told not to move.

Canal & River Trust has given the continuous cruisers that use that part of the Lee dispensation to stay put as any boat movement would further spread the oil, Alan Tilbury reports.

Waste engine oil

It has been found to be waste engine oil that has been dumped in the waterway, but must have come from some form of tanker and purposely dumped as there is so sign of any leakage into the water.

The contamination has now spread from Tottenham down to the Olympic Park.
