RESIDENTS of the new  Muirtown Basin Marina on the Caledonian Canal have been suffering attacks and abuse for several weeks from people objecting to their living in the marina.

The residential boaters have often had objects thrown at their boats, that have been damaged by rocks, and have suffered verbal abuse for several weeks, with no sign of it abating, Alan Tilbury tells us.

Such is the problem, that Scottish Canals, is installing new CCTV cameras overlooking the area in the hope of gaining evidence.

One resident, Matthew McGrath, told The Press & Journal he has lived aboard his boat Breaking Away for two years, telling the front window of his cruiser was smashed after a large stone was thrown at it.

There is a gang of six to eight teenagers, often on a motocross bike, who had regularly caused disruption on the towpaths as well as attacking the boats.
