Shakespeare timeshare goes bust—again

THE company that were operating Avante/Shakespeare Classic Line boats out of Mercia Marina have gone bust—for the second time.

This means that those with timeshare bookings with the company, will loose their money.

Fraudulent trading

This is the second time the company has gone bust, this last time being in 2013 when a director of Shakespeare Classic Line, David Evans was found guilty of fraudulent trading and Andrew Harris was found guilty of ten Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations offences, leaving around 100 people conned out of their money by the fraudulent timeshare scam, that netted them £7.5 millions.

Harris received a prison sentence of 4½ years, for operating what the judge called a 'fraud factory' whilst other directors had lesser sentences.

Moved

After this Shakespeare Classic Line boats were moved from Hatton to Barton Turns Marina and then Barton turns Marina then eventually based at Mercia Marina.

During this time Victor Swift wrote:

'I reckon Barton were wise to that company's former activities, but I was surprised that Mercia took them in—just wonder how long before Shakespeare goes bust again?'

Not too long it seems.

Ceased trading

It was a director who has just announced that 'the Avante Group of companies have ceased trading which means we are no longer in a position to operate the holiday ownerships'.

This means that all holidays are now cancelled.

However there is still the original court case involving the miss-selling of the boats as the company has a restraint order against it meaning the company cannot deal in any assets, so there is no money...
