I SUPPORT everyone who condemns the programme makers who are portraying canal boating as a glorified dodgem car ride, writes Kevin McNiff.

I don't support the defence of their lack of prowess because someone dared to suggest they were senior citizens and should be banned. Anyone behaving badly should not be 'glorified' by the media. End of.

More subtle approach

A more subtle approach would be a series of out-takes at the end of each episode as the titles roll.

The hire companies may have taken out additional insurance to cover the filming project, or the film company may have underwritten any consequential loss or damage. (Who said 'dream on'!)

We've got enough bloody Muppets out and about already—lock damage has already been reported at Napton—let's not give them any more ideas
