CaRT take a leaf out of Asda's book

ANY of you who have shopped at Asda will be aware of its 'Greeters'—people welcoming you to its stores.

But now Canal & River Trust is taking a leaf out of its book by asking for volunteers to be Greeters on the Macclesfield Canal at Bosley—welcoming people as they visit the locks.

Interact

The Greeters will be at the top of the locks, and CaRT wants them to 'interact with people' and volunteers with a few hours a week to spare would be ideal for the role.

Tracey Jackson, the Trust's Customer Support Co-ordinator with Manchester & Pennine Waterway, explained:

"The role involves being on hand to talk to visitors, telling them about the waterways and offering them practical advice and information about the local area. We're not necessarily looking for canal experts but people who are friendly and approachable, and know who to ask if they don't know the immediate answer.

"This is an opportunity to be the ‘face' of the Canal & River Trust, playing a key role in helping boaters, walkers, cyclists and anglers get the best out of their visit to the Macclesfield Canal."
