Another idiot

THE German Nico von Lerchenfel, thinks he is rather clever 'wakeboarding' the London canals for three days, leaping over lock gates into empty locks and such like.

He has done this, he says, to bring attention to the sport by cruising the capital's waterways, Keith Gudgin tells us.

Dire consequences

However the canals are hardly the right place for such an activity, for racing towards a lock and slinging himself over closed lock gates into a empty chamber could have dire consequences should a narrowboat have pulled in whilst he was preparing... He is shown leaping over the gates of Camden Lock into the empty chamber.

But asks Keith:

"Will CaRT now prosecute and ban this stupid idiot for speeding on canals, creating a wash that damages the banks, damaging the infrastructure and being a danger to other canals users, and the public etc?"

Just imagine you were entering a lock only to have this crazy idiot fly over your head?
