48 hours or months?

WE ARE receiving many emails concerning the narrowboats moored permanently on the 48 hours moorings at Bath, with you aghast at it being allowed to go on for so long.

One writer, Denise Hunt tells us she believes they were there when she cruised from Bath from Aldermaston a couple of years ago, and that in addition to no licence or one that ran out several years ago, these continuous 'cruisers' never seem to have boat names, suggesting that Canal & River Trust can learn something from the Environment Agency where all boats need a unique name.

Accosted

Gerry Wilks, a boater in the area, tells us that the enforcement people simply ignore the illegally moored boats, as he has been told that they (enforcement people) have been accosted so steer clear.

Of the many emails in this same vein, one from Penny Schenk of Oxford believes publishing photographs is invading the privacy of other boaters, and that by all means, make the argument about CaRT failings and poor/selective enforcement, but maybe without the vigilante tactics.
