A MAN wanting to 'cool-off' jumped into the Trent in Burton-on-Trent, but it was not a sensible thing to do.

The 46 years old man was obviously in difficulties in the water, and was pulled out after a passer by called the emergency services, Alan Tilbury tells us.

Died

Though he was treated by paramedics and then rushed to hospital he later died.

Chief Inspector Steve Maskrey of Staffordshire Police warned:

"Tragically, this incident proves just how dangerous open water can be. Although it may seem fun at the time, the public need to be aware that swimming in open water brings many dangers including the risk of drowning, catching diseases and hypothermia."
