Fire victim named

THE boater who died in the fire on the narrowboat earlier this week (Stove suspected for boaters death) has been named by the police.

The victim was Jason Phillips, known locally as 'Badger', who lived on his narrowboat at private moorings near Trowbridge, Alan Tilbury tells us.

Cause not officially established

He was pulled out of his boat by fire-fighters, but was pronounced dead at the scene. It is thought the boat's stove was the most likely cause of the fire though not yet officially established.

The death is not being treated as suspicious.
