Email: Canoeists and rowers

Published: Wednesday, 26 November 2014

I was under the, obviously mistaken, impression that you only included stories concerning narrowboats and that canoeists did not come under your remit, but pleased to see that they do.

In Gloucester we boaters suffer from two fronts—canoeists and rowers, with both having clubs, and like Keith says, some seem to take delight in rocking our boats, and we have often seen them putting more effort into it as they get nearer to the moored boats.

There is one rower in particular who is really asking for trouble as he has no idea of the 'rules of the road' and seems to take delight in weaving from side to side on the canal and of course not being able to see were he is going, knowing full well that we will get out of his way. But I for one have had enough, and next time he 'tries it on' I shall just keep going.

I can tell Keith that complaining to the Trust is a waste of time, for those who have are told 'the waterways are for all'.  In other words 'tough!'
