Boat and boater missing

THE police are concerned for the welfare of a missing boater who has not contacted his family for some weeks.

Approached by police

Our Keith Gudgin was approached by a PC when he was moored at Sutton Bridge, North of Fazeley, but was not sure of the boat's name spelling it out as Oojini, with Keith wondering if it was Eugene or similar.  It is green.

The owner is Peter, who is known to frequent the BCN, Birmingham & Fazeley and Trent & Mersey canals.

Suggested CaRT

Believing Canal & River Trust would have an idea where boats are, Keith was surprised to learn it would not help, explaining:

"I suggested to him that they contact CaRT as they tend to have a reasonable idea of where all boats are and he said they had already done so but he said CaRT would not disclose any information to help them so he was walking the towpath from Hopwas to Alvecote to see if he could find the said boat. So again non-caring CaRT not caring about another boater and also now wasting Police resources.

If anyone sees or knows of the whereabouts of this boat or its owner could they please call the Police on 101, ask for Stafford Police and quote reference 522/18/06/14.
