Change the number

ONE would think that an emergency number was a most important part of any activity, and particularly that of boating, yet Canal & River Trust still have an out of date number at many situations we have been told.

The one at Newbold Tunnel on the Oxford Canal is a prime example where the old emergency number is still shown, as our David Hymers pointed out.

Needs to be changed

Kevin McNiff came across the hazard yesterday and called one of the bankside team to pass a message to the local engineering staff, but tells us the sign needs to be changed as it showed the wrong telephone number.

Another boater Brian Holt tells us emailed Canal & River Trust way back on the 3rd March about the wrong number being shown, but it still remains.

Surely two months is enough time to change a sign, especially as it is an emergency number, and ringing the wrong number could result in a real emergency.
