A YOUNG girl who tried to help two others searching for a shoe in the Staffs & Worcs Canal at Wolverley Court Lock near Kidderminster, slipped in and drowned.

Six years old Imie Harrison slipped into the water when she was attempting to help two other children searching for a lost shoe, but fell in and drowned, whilst the other two climbed out unharmed, Alan Tilbury tells us.

Lost her balance

The girls told the police that one of them was wearing shoes that were too large, and one had slipped off into the waterway, with two of the girls then attempting to find it, with the six years old trying to help when she lost her balance.

It was told at the coroner's court however that there had been some arguing, with the shoe being thrown into the water and the girls attempting to find it when the tragedy happened.

This happened during March of this year, with the County coroner, Geraint Williams, reporting that  it was a tragic case of accidental death.
