IT SEEMS that a common thread has appeared on various forums—the mystery surrounding Robin Evans and his less than usual method of departure from Canal & River Trust, writes Mick Fitzgibbons.

Like all good things, most people do enjoy a good conspiracy and this will be followed by the usual theory of a cover up.

Euphoria

When I read that Robin was about to depart the nest so to speak, my first reaction was a complete state of euphoria.

However, I must admit that I was expecting that there would be some sort of ceremonial handing over of the staff toilet key, chain of office or tiller pin from the outgoing tenant to the incoming tenant. But it has all been done as quietly and as unobtrusively as possible. That was if a huge red white and blue elephant stood at the front of the room could be described as unobtrusive.
