Boating knowledge not needed

Published: Monday, 28 January 2013

THE Canal & River Trust is looking for a volunteer to assist in boat marketing and communications work, writes Allan Richards.

The position is to assist CaRT's (snappily titled) Boating Consultations and Communications Manager, Damian Kemp, and is based in CaRT's Gloucester office, with possible travel to other offices to attend meetings.

Suit a graduate

CaRT say the role would ideally suit a graduate, but the position is open to all who are interested in marketing and communications work.

Surely, many of the thousands of retired boaters on CaRT's waterways have the necessary marketing and communications skill, and perhaps more important, the boating knowledge needed for the role.

Non-boater wanted?

But it seems that CaRT would rather have a non-boater in the role as it says 'no previous boating knowledge needed'.

Indeed it says 'no previous boating knowledge needed' twice!
