Tidal Trent still in flood

Published: Thursday, 03 January 2013

SUCH is the flood level of the Tidal Trent, that its bridge at Dunham was still closed yesterday (Wednesday).

The village itself is mostly under water, and there is an alert around Gainsborough as there is plenty of fresh in the river, coupled with high tides, Alan Tilbury tells us.

Torksey Lock

The toll bridge at Dunham, the river's only crossing for miles has now been closed for a week, causing massive disruption, with areas around Torksey Lock, that is of course out of action, with the river gauge at the lock having been at over 19ft.  Tim Laver's photograph shows the lock pontoons.

There is a warning from the  Environment Agency that many areas will still be affected for the remainder of the week due to the excess of water coupled with high tides, with one expecting to peak at 16ft at Gainsborough.
