Towpath get-away

THE towpath of the Kennet & Avon Canal around Trowbridge is being used by a thief as a quick get-away.

There have been a number of cycle thefts in Trowbridge recently, not only taken from off the street but from various premises, day after day, with no reports of anyone noticing, Alan Tilbury reports.

With all the thefts being in the vicinity of the Kennet & Avon Canal, the police believe the thief is using the towpath to make his or her get-away, as of course no one takes particular notice of a cyclist on the towpath.

With only single cycles being stolen, recently one a day, it is believed it is just the work of one person, but as yet there has been no description of the thief.
