Join York flotilla

THE Festival of the Rivers that was cancelled earlier this year owing to high water levels on the Ouse is to be held instead later this month in York.

Boaters are invited to join the festival that will now take place on the 26th August, and will comprise of the flotilla of boats travelling up river from Bishopthorpe, and will be open to both engine powered and unpowered vessels, Alan Tilbury tells us.

There will be activities on the bank side as well as various competitions such as the Best Dressed Boat, the theme being '800 Years On The River'.
