Swing bridge in wrong place

A NEW swing bridge built over the Stroudwater Navigation as part of the Cotswold Canals restoration, is in the wrong place.

The bridge, replacing the original, has been constructed so near to a house that its eaves are overhanging the bridge, and liable to be hit by anything high sided using the bridge which forms part of a road, Alan Tilbury reveals.

Delayed

The bridge, at Stonehouse, was due to be opened in May, but was delayed as the house was at risk from being hit, and it now seems that it will have to realigned or even moved.

The bridge was designed and constructed by contractors Galliford Try, but the company have not commented.
