Victor asks what it means that the Severn is in indemnity between certain locks.

What it means is that if you want to navigate between the locks you have to sign an indemnity form to say that CART are not responsible should you have a mishap because the navigation is unsafe. What this also means is that your insurance is likely to be invalid. I think it would be simpler and better on so-called health & safety grounds for the Severn to either be open or closed to navigation.

I have given up trying to get back to Gloucester. Am sitting it out at Great Haywood until the jet stream moves North. I will move if CART will put me on a low-loader at its expense, especially since they have so much money to throw around on trivial matters.

No point in heading towards Stourport to find little hope of getting back to Gloucester and there being a complete lack of boater facilities between Gailey and Greensforge on the Staffs & Worcs Canal.

Here's hoping for a summer!
