Email: 48 hours is not enough

The Gentleman who feels that 48 hour moorings near towns and business is failing to consider the needs of the genuine continuous cruiser and that of the less able.

We run a business from our boat, so we cruise the network. We are not tied to any one area, nor do we continually moor in one place. So, for example, we decide to spend four weeks cruising to London or Birmingham, and get there to find no 14 days moorings, how does he expect us to explore these towns whilst we are there?

Whilst we have been on the 14 day moorings at Cosgrove, we have used the local shop every day. Local business would lose out, completely the opposite to what he suggests.

My partner also is suffering with disintegrating discs, although not registered disabled, would mean that if we wanted to stay at a location for a week or two, we would not be able to do so near any shops or towns when she needs medical attention which can often involve multiple booking attempts over a number of days. The extended walks would be impossible. This would restrict us from visiting these areas.

I know many other people in this situation who are elderly and need breaks in between cruising of up to 14 days, to recoup, visit doctors, get prescriptions etc. Is he suggesting we all give up cruising, simply because he cannot find a mooring where he wants one?

There needs to be a fair percentage of 14 days/48 hours moorings at popular locations in order to accommodate all boaters' needs.
